MEET YOUR OVIEDO TEAM:
Who are they, what do they do and what is their vision?
Who are you?
My name is Amanda Hartley and I am the Site Coordinator for Northland Oviedo. My amazing husband Jim and I have two sweet children, Abigail (4.5) and Nicholas (2.5).
What do you do?
Both my role and my passion here at Northland Oviedo is connections. From putting the pieces together in the foyer on Sunday mornings, to planning special events, assisting our small group leaders and being sure that you as a congregation stay in the know about upcoming happenings through the Northland News, the Oviedo site blog, emails, the information table, etc.
Speaking of connections, there are three events in the works specifically designed to help you get connected…
1. Service Team Training & Orientation, next Sunday here at Hagerty during the 11:00 service. Check out the flyer our greeters shared with you on the way in to learn more about ways you can serve our Northland Oviedo family.
2. Group Leader Training on Saturday, September 6. If you are currently leading a small group (or any kind of group!) or have ever thought about leading you won’t want to miss this opportunity.
3. Our Small Group Forum in the Foyer. We have many very exciting groups starting up in the fall including women’s studies, men’s studies, marriage groups, parent studies and much, much more. On Sunday, September 14th we’re going to pack our foyer with these connections opportunities.
What is your vision for this ministry and this site look like?
My vision for Northland Oviedo is a church family with a constant craving to know Him more and to serve Him more. Throughout Deuteronomy, Moses encouraged the Israelites to use their past experiences – both good and bad – to set their faith on fire and called them to look toward the future. God wants to use each and every one of you more and more to proclaim His glory. It’s through real people, real hurts and real struggles that we see God’s real love, real healing and real redemption. I want to encourage you all to be in prayer about how God wants to use you for His Kingdom. You can contact me at amanda.hartley@northlandchurch.net
Who are you?
My name is Erica Emler and I am the Student Ministries Coordinator for Northland Oviedo.
What do you do?
I’ve been given the privilege and responsibility of creating and developing the Student Ministries (Middle School/High School) at Northland Oviedo. I see my role as a three-fold process:
- Students: To love, challenge, and encourage students to know God more and take Him into their worlds everywhere, everyday.
- Volunteers: To build a team of people who love students and love God and want to come alongside students to love, challenge, and encourage them in their walk with Christ.
- Parents: You have the hardest job in the world. I see it absolutely crucial to partner with you as we seek to love and challenge your students.
What is your vision for this ministry and this site look like?
Our vision is to create opportunities for people to know God and to love others for greater Kingdom influence.
The vision involves developing a team of people who are willing to come alongside students to love them, to challenge them, and to encourage them. These are people who want to have a hand in raising up the next generation of leaders to be like Christ. If this sounds like something that you wish to be a part of (whether tangibly with students or behind the scenes), please send an email to erica.emler@northlandchurch.net. We need people like you!
The vision states that we will create opportunities for people to know God and love others more. These opportunities can come in the form of weekly youth group, retreats, sporting events, plays, coffee, movies, dinner, etc. The idea is to meet students where they are, in their worlds. It isn’t our job to change their hearts, but it is our job to create opportunities for the heart change.
Who are you?
My name is Michelle Smith and I’m the Children’s Ministry Coordinator. I have been married to my amazing husband, Josh, for 5 years.
What do you do?
My overall responsibility is the organization and development of the Children’s Ministry, from the little infants through our fifth graders.
My ministry is based around 3 key elements:
1. Volunteers
2. Children
3. Parents
I am responsible for scheduling, training, empowering and assisting our volunteers as they teach your children about Jesus each week.
I am responsible for the physical safety and the spiritual enrichment of your children, utilizing the amazing curriculum designed by our
in-house staff at Longwood.
Lastly, I am responsible for ensuring proper communication with our parents and planning connection events that bring families together.
What is your vision for this ministry and this site look like?
My vision for the Children’s Ministry is that the church body will come together to inspire our young children to focus their lives on Jesus, teaching them that nothing else matters. The one thing I’ve realized since I’ve started in this position is that I can’t do this alone. I see us accomplishing this vision by developing a strong team of volunteers that are passionate about children and want to be involved in Kingdom work. If you want to find out more about how to get involved in Children’s Ministry at Northland Oviedo, please attend our New Volunteer Orientation happening immediately after the 11:00am service in the Children’s Ministry Wing. You can contact me at michelle.smith@northlandchurch.net
Who are you?
My name is Jeremy Jobson and I am the Associate Site Minister. I have been married to my lovely wife Maggie for almost four years. We have two beautiful children: Zoe who is almost 3 and Matthew who is 16 mos.
What do you do?
I am the Associate Site Minister for Northland at Oviedo. In conjunction with the incredible team God has brought together here, I have responsibility for the overall health, wellness and development of the site, both physically and spiritually. Physically: the event and operations of worship on Sunday, the Community Center (NOCC) during the week, and any functions, service projects or community outreach that are gong on. Spiritually: the development, organization, and implementation of Spiritual Formation for our body through Small Groups, Classes, Membership Pathway, Baptism, New/Young Believers classes and community service connections.
What is your vision for this ministry and this site look like?
My vision for this site is that we will all seek to Know Him and make Him known and if necessary use words. I pray that we would be in a relentless and passionate pursuit of Christ that caused, inspired and encouraged others, to do the same in such a way that HE would be glorified and our community would be transformed! We are working on the ‘how to’s’ of this massive undertaking, diligently seeking the Spirit and looking to challenge the depth of our faith, as well as yours. The study of God’s Word, Prayer, community, small groups, special events, service, fellowship, missions and more are all ways that we will focus on doing that this year.
I believe that Christ has called us to live out our faith in such a way that through community and relationships we are spurred on towards love and good deeds, glorifying Him along the way. I pray that YOU would accept the call to be ministers everywhere, everyday and in return we would all experience the love of Christ in a new way, a transformational, challenging, stretching way, and it would be evident by the world we change all around us….here is the prayer I have for you, for us as a family of and for Christ…
READ THE PAPER, CHECK THE BLOG, CALL/EMAIL US,
STOP BY, CONNECT…WE NEED CHRIST AND WE NEED EACH OTHER FOR THE WORK HE HAS LAID OUT BEFORE US…
PLEASE BE A PART OF IT WITH US,
BE A PART OF IT WITH HIM!
FRANCISCAN FOUR FOLD BLESSING
May God bless you with a restless discomfort about easy answers, half-truths and superficial relationships, so that you may seek truth boldly and love deep within your heart.
May God bless you with holy anger at injustice, oppression, and exploitation of people, so that you may tirelessly work for justice, freedom, and peace among all people.
May God bless you with the gift of tears to shed with those who suffer from pain, rejection, starvation, or the loss of all that they cherish, so that you may reach out your hand to comfort them and transform their pain into joy.
May God bless you with enough foolishness to believe that you really CAN make a difference in this world, so that you are able, with God’s grace, to do what others claim cannot be done.
And the blessing of God the Supreme Majesty and our Creator, Jesus Christ the Incarnate Word who is our brother and Savior, and the Holy Spirit, our Advocate and Guide, be with you and remain with you, this day and forevermore.
AMEN
