FALL SMALL GROUPS KICKOFF

We will be running the exciting list of NEW groups forming on next week’s page and we will be celebrating this time of year with another “Forum in the Foyer” event.  This was such a success in the Spring that it is back.  This is where we highlight the different people that have felt led to lead or host a Bible study, Small group or Class this fall either out of their homes, at Hagerty High School on Sunday mornings or at the NOCC.

There are groups with a focus for Men, for Women, for Couples, for Parenting, for deepening your faith walk and for expanding your commitment to Northland and the Kingdom of God through our ‘Be A Part of IT’ Pathway which includes: New/Young Believers, Welcome to Northland, Membership and Spiritual giftings.

We have seen the development of group life in Oviedo explode this last year and I have heard time and time again from people involved that this is what has caused their faith and connection to the Northland Oviedo family to grow immensely.  We talk about this natural transformation in all of our service teams as well.  They too function as small groups that pray, laugh, grow, and serve together and the end result is always the same: a deeper understanding of Christ through community!  Sign up for one and experience this for yourself.

Please let me encourage you to take the first step and join a group of some kind this fall, the groups are not lifelong commitments, they are not for members only, they are for each and every one of you.  The leaders of these groups have all felt the call to BE A PART of connecting God’s people to one another, to others, and to Him.  If you feel that call and would like to host, lead or start a small group please contact Amanda Hartley (amanda.hartley@northlandchurch.net) so she can begin the process with you and get you involved in the Forum event.  We will be hosting a Group Leader Training event at the NOCC on Saturday Sept 6th from 9-12pm and I encourage any current or potential new leaders or hosts to PLEASE come to this event.  It will cover the philosophy of groups from a Distributed Church perspective, is taught by our church leaders including Pastor Joel, and will be a chance for all of us to connect and pray for each other!

If you are mulling over various excuses not to BE A PART OF IT: i.e. not sure about the time involved, not knowing anyone, the possible workload, childcare, etc. let me tell you that all of those and more are not from God, those are all from the enemy.  God wants you connected.  He wants you in relationship with Him and others.  He is a relationship!  Please listen to Him when he says that “it is not good for the man to be alone” (Genesis 2:18 ) or when He implores us through the writer of Hebrews “Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching” (Heb 10:24-25).

My wife and I would not be where we are as a couple, as a family, as believers if we did not have the power of community through our small group.  You too have that opportunity, all you have to do is BE A PART OF IT!!!
