This is our second trip to Lake Charles, Louisiana. We were just there 6 weeks ago helping families that lost so much in Hurricane Ike. Please pray for the people in Lake Charles and Cameron Parish and surrounding areas as they rebuild their lives. We plan to return in the coming year to continue serving these wonderful people in Louisiana, so please keep us in your prayers as well.

Day one - we got off to an early start - we met at the airport (dark and early), boarded the plane and headed back to Lake Charles! This time nobody slept on the plane because we were so excited to get back!! We have some familiar faces with us - Tim our fearless leader, Mary Ann, Trisha, Renee, Allison, Bob, Gayron, and Matt…and a couple of new ones too - Al and Dave!

We had a smooth flight, landed in New Orleans, and jumped in 2 cars and started our 3 hour drive to Lake Charles. We took the scenic route this time due to a few communication errors….we FINALLY arrived at Church of the King in Lake Charles at 12:30….greeted by Shawn and Jimmy. And there was a surprise waiting for us - our sleeping quarters had been upgraded (well, the girls’ room, anyway - see pic) complete with mattresses!! Woo hoo!! When we expect the least, God gives us more!

We jumped right in to work with a couple we helped on our last trip - Marshal and Lisa Young. (see pic of Marshal and the guys) We worked until dark and after we cleaned up, Shawn had dinner ready for us - some of that famous chicken and Cajun black eyed peas! We ate like pigs and spent some time fellowshipping and catching up with each other. Shawn gave us a overview of our serving projects for the days to follow. We will be helping 2 families tomorrow and heading back to Cameron City Saturday…so….With our stomachs full, we headed back to our beds at church to get a good night’s sleep for Day 2!
