What’s a Blog?

Filed Under (About Our Blogs) by Robert Andrescik on 19-05-2008

In simple terms, a blog is a website where stuff is written on an ongoing basis. The newest stuff always shows up at the top, so you can easily read what’s new and post your comments.

A blog isn’t just about information, it’s about interaction—allowing you to post comments, prayer requests and praise reports, and to share them with the world.

While the church’s main website (www.northlandchurch.net) is still the place to get “big picture” information about Northland, the blog site provides an expanded forum where you can get in-depth information about Northland-related and -initiated ministries and then interact with communities that are of interest to you.

Read. Connect. Share … Here at Northland!

How Do I Subscribe to a Blog?

Wouldn’t it be great if you could just get all of the latest headlines from Northland’s blog, delivered in a convenient, at-a-glance format? Well you can, and it’s called an RSS feed (Real Simple Syndication).

Browsers like Internet Explorer, Safari and Firefox allow you to subscribe to RSS feeds through the browser; it’s called “live bookmarking.”

Typically, you recognize an RSS feed because there’s a neat little orange or blue button located in or near your address bar, like this:

Simply click on the icon to subscribe to that blog.
