Led by Northland volunteer Bob Keiderling, Men’s Fraternity is a series of three one-year-long studies, beginning with The Quest for Authentic Manhood, followed by Authentic Manhood: Winning at Work and Home, and concluding with The Great Adventure series. More than just a rally or a Bible study, Men’s Fraternity provides men with an encouraging process that teaches them how to live lives of authentic manhood as modeled by Jesus Christ and directed by the Word of God.

Men’s Fraternity was designed to help men come together and strengthen each other through weekly sessions that combine biblical teaching and small group interaction.

These time-tested resources have been used all over the world to equip men to make their pursuit of noble manhood a lifelong priority. Church leaders and lay members are using the series to energize the men of their church and to connect with men in the community. Many men also use the series in their own personal pursuit of authentic manhood.

This two-minute tutorial video will take you step-by-step through the process of participating online in Northland’s church-wide study on “Managing Our Finances God’s Way.”

1.  The dynamic of Chip’s relationship with John is exactly the dynamic that God wants in His relationship with you.

  a.  Chip started asking:  “What would John want me to do?”

  b.  Chip became more faithful in handling John’s money than his own.

  c.  Chip and John became best friends.

  What parallels can you draw from this story to your personal relationship with God and your attitude toward your finances?  How are they related?

2.  How would your financial habits be likely to change if you asked every day, “How does God want me to spend His money?”  Think about Chip’s example of putting the checkbook near his watch and keys.  What will you do to remind yourself from time to time that you are a steward of God’s resources?

3.  Think about the people you may meet in heaven one day who were helped by your stewardship of God’s resources.  How does this make you feel about what you are learning in this study?

4.  Review the “Oikonomia Principle.”  How does recognizing God’s ultimate ownership of all things alter your life view?

1.  Did you know before this lesson that God has given us so many biblical principles for our finances?  How does this knowledge affect your attitude toward God?

2.  Look back at the wheel diagram in the lesson.  Does God’s pattern make sense to you?  Does it surprise you that the world’s way and God’s way are exactly opposite?  Discuss those differences and how God’s way is in your best interest.

3.  How content are you with your present financial situation?  Contentment does not mean having everything you want.  It means being satisfied with-and grateful for-what you have.

4.  What difference does it make when you consider that your money is on loan from God?  Where will your money go, and how will it be used, once you have passed into eternity?

5.  Rick reminded us that God wants us to love people and use money, not the other way around.  When we use our money for God, what is the potential outcome?

6.  What does financial freedom look like from God’s perspective?  How would you live if you were financially free?

1. Once you sign up, your host will contact you about your first meeting.
2. There is no homework for the first meeting. Just show up with your workbook.
3. All small group hosts will receive the DVD that goes with your material. If your existing small group is participating in this study, your group leader will need to get the DVD. Please contact Jennifer Raymond (jennifer.raymond@northlandchurch.net) for details.

On-Site Classes:

1. There is no homework the first week. Just show up for your scheduled class with your workbook.
2. Child care is available for some classes. You can view classes with childcare here.

Individual, Online Study:
Please note: This material was designed to be used in a group setting. So please select this option only if you are unable to participate in a small group or class.

1. Soon after you sign up, you will receive an email with instructions on how to view the DVD materials online.
2. Whether you study independently or in a group, you are invited to utilize the discussion blog to interact with others for the discussion questions. Discussion questions will be posted beginning Monday, September 15, and every Monday thereafter.

• Play the DVD for each session.
• Ask the discussion questions.
• Ask someone to close in prayer.

As people sign up for your small group, you will receive an email confirmation from each participant, so you know who will be attending. Pastor Joel C. Hunter has begun a sermon series that will help us to take stock of our lives – our time, our talent and our treasure.

“How we handle what has been entrusted to us determines how we view life and how well we love,” Dr. Hunter explains. “The Bible says, ‘If your eye is clear [‘generous’ in the original Greek], your whole body will be full of light’ (Matthew 6:22). If we can learn to view everything through a ‘generous eye,’ we’ll see the big picture … we’ll be content.”

In addition to the sermon series, everyone is encouraged to participate in a congregation-wide Bible study that will begin September 15 called Managing Our Finances God’s Way. Co-developed by Crown Financial Ministries and Purpose Driven Ministries, this seven-week DVD-based study will equip us to live a generous life within the assurance of God’s economy, instead of the fractured economy of the world.

According to Crown, the Bible is packed with wise counsel about your financial life. In fact, Jesus had more to say about money than about heaven and hell combined. There are over 2,350 verses in the Bible about money, and nearly half of Jesus’ parables are about possessions.

During this study, you will have an opportunity to hear from five renowned experts — Rick Warren, Chip Ingram, Ron Blue, Howard Dayton and Chuck Bentley — on the following topics:
